Snow Leopard

White and leopard are always classic. Sometimes all you need is a tiny detail of leopard, such as this thin belt. Other outfits require more of a large scale pattern statement, but the shape of this dress says it all by itself.

Dress: Banana Republic    Shoes: Guess      Belt: Lucky     Cuff: Africa and Beyond
Watch: Michael Kors

A hemline that hits just above your kneecap can elongate you even more than showing upper leg.

The thin black piping on the heels also mirrors the thin belt, so it is a nice complete look tie-in.

A cowl neckline is flattering for all face shapes and is a nice alternative to a v-neck or scoop.

Beta Shift

This is the first shift dress/shirt I have ever bought! But how could I resist when it has a giant beta fish  print on it. Absolutely to die for! And flattering too (which is tricky to find in a shift).

My little trick with this shift dress is I am wearing a pair of shorts under it! You can barely see the bottom edges here. And for someone with long long legs, finding a shift dress long enough is really tricky, so wear a tight pair of short shorts under it and you are set!

Even though I am wearing shorts here, I still have the illusion of a short dress (without the potential for embarrassment). And to change the look, you can tuck it in/roll it up to have a short shirt combo.

I adore colored eyeliner! This blue is by Benefit Cosmetics and goes on smooth and flawlessly.

California Jumpsuit

This week I am in La Jolla, California! Sunglasses and flip-flops on the beach everyday! But this light, loose jumpsuit was perfect for walking the streets, since it was windy out but I didn't want to wear jeans or anything like that.

Today's outfit includes an Esprit Jumpsuit, Sanuk flip-flops, and Vera Bradley Sunnies (keep reading for jewelry details.)

You never know where you will find your new favorite piece. I found this necklace in Chico's actually! Don't be picky about where you can buy, because amazing pieces are out there waiting to fall into your life!

This ebony wood cuff is from a store called Africa and Beyond. They are a fair-trade store, so everything in the store comes from African Artists who are paid a fair wage in order to promote self-sustaining business. It's a great cause and the jewelry and home wares are to die for!

Check out their online store here. If you live around San Diego, go to the store! It is like a museum and the women who work there are a party. It is a must-stop!

p.s. I also really really love this cuff because the finger board on my bass is ebony so I feel like I am wearing a piece of what I love always.

Amsterdam Flowers

Amsterdam is such an incredible city. As many of you probably know, it was a big city for impressionistic artists, such as Van Gogh, and I feel like this dress has an impressionistic feel!

Muted artistic flowers paired with a blazer and converse are the perfect combination for a day of walking.

This outfit would be fantastic with heels as well, but for walking through cobble stone streets all day, converse are a better choice with a street style vibe.

Equestrian Style

I wish I had a horse to wear this hat and boots with. But until then, wearing it around town will have to do. I was even asked in the Schnoor if I came from England! (apparently that's british style too).

Hat and blazer are from H&M, Shirt is Ralph Lauren, Jeans are Bullhead Denim, Boots are JC Penny.

Watch is DKNY and the bracelet is a fabulous gift from my mother.

New H's: Heels and hair

My Zara heels came in the mail today! Yay! I love Zara's shoes! And I love these shorts from Premonition Design Australia. I bought them in Sydney and have been waiting to wear them on a warm day since we came back to Germany. So I figured to pair them together with an easy ruffle black top from Banana Republic.

I Love the detailing on these shorts! The under layer of light blue has tan horizontal stitching all over it, giving it a subtle texture contrast to the white overlay.

Today's nail color is by Sally Hansen. I love this color because it's a fuchsia red depending what light you are in. And it shows off my wedding ring nicely too!

Besides the new heels, today I did something new for my hair: an olive oil treatment. Ridiculously simple, and instantly effective.

Here's what I did:
I tool 1/4-1/2 cup olive oil and barely heated it on the stove - just enough to make it a little more fluid. Then, holding my hair in a pony tail to one side, I completely saturated the ends (that's where my hair needed the most love, they were splitting and looking fried). With the left over olive oil, over a sink, I just poured it onto my hair and massaged it through my roots and down to the ends. (A nice perk is the olive oil makes your hands super soft too, double bonus!)
I twisted my hair and clipped it up for 45 minutes so let it completely soak through. I then washed my hair as normal.

Instantly my split and dry ends were dramatically reduced. My hair was sleeker, and less frizzy. It also straightened much easier than normal.

This is definitely something I am going to incorporate into my hair care routine regularly! And a bottle of good quality olive oil is cheaper, and probably better for you than many of the chemical hair masks on the market today.
